WHICH SMOOTHIE BOWL ARE YOU?

Went on a smoothie bowl spree last year during lockdown. I’ve always been a big fan of smoothie bowls, especially acai bowls. I used to go out to cafes and smoothie bars everyday—yes, I repeat, everyday—just to get my daily smoothie bowl fix. But with lockdown in place and we’re not allowed to leave the house, I had so much time in my hands. I thought, why not make my own smoothie bowls. That way, I could add whatever I want, decorate it however I like, and have it whenever I want without having to worry that the cafes will close by late afternoon! Below are some of my smoothie bowl creations I made. I love trying out new bases and topping combinations. Would love to know which is your favorite!

ACAI BOWL

Acai smoothies are probably my favorite base for a smoothie bowl. The acai berry’s natural sweetness complemented by the blended banana and coconut water makes the base so refreshing to have. If I ‘m craving, I sometimes even add nut butter into the blend for a slightly nuttier taste. The bowl goes perfectly well with most fruits, but best with banana and fresh berries for the refreshing and tangy flavor. I also sprinkle with some crunches like cacao nibs, nuts, and granola for the extra texture.

PB BERRY BOWL

This is probably my second most favorite bowl to make and eat. I just love the nutty taste of the peanut butter in the blend, combined with the tangy and refreshing taste of raspberries mixed with creamy yoghurt, which gives the base a smooth and consistent texture. I always top it with fresh berries, nut butter, banana, chia seeds, dried coconut shreds and crunches like granola, crushed peanuts, and cacao nibs.

CARROT CAKE SMOOTHIE BOWL

Carrot bowl in a bowl? How good is that? You can enjoy this delicious dessert guilt-free. Carrot cake but healthier and just as delicious! Every mouthful envelopes you with the flavors of autumn, especially from the gentle kick of cinnamon at the end. If you want to keep it cozy and warm to suit the flavors of autumn, then top with toppings like pumpkin seeds, granola, cacao nibs, and possibly shredded carrots. If you want something more refreshing, I’d say go for berries and citrus!

GREEN BOWL

Healthy and heavenly blend of spinach, banana, yoghurt, and coconut water. I love this bowl just as much as I do other bowls. The creamy base is so delicious and well-rounded. The toppings like kiwi and passionfruit so tangy it complements the creamy sweet flavor of the base.

SUMMER MANGO BOWL

Perfect for summer when there are lots of tropical fruits around. I love the sweet and refreshing taste of mangoes (I’m a big fan of tropical fruits). The blend is purely made of mango and coconut water, and I even add mangoes to the topping to maximize the amount of mango I can have in one go. Mango lovers don’t miss out. Add some blackberries and blueberries and the bowl is perfect.
